Once upon a time, King Akbar and his favourite minister Birbal were having a long discussion. Akbar wanted to make fun of Birbal. Emperor Akbar started explaining one of his dreams.
Akbar said, “You and I were walking towards each other on a moonless night. We were in some other kingdom and not in the palace. It was very dark. It was so dark that we could not see each other at all. We collided and fell down.
TranslateEs war einmal, König Akbar und sein Lieblingsminister Birbal hatten eine lange Diskussion. Akbar wollte sich über Birbal lustig machen. Kaiser Akbar begann einen seiner Träume zu erklären.
Akbar sagte: „Sie und ich gingen in einer mondlosen Nacht aufeinander zu. Wir waren in einem anderen Königreich und nicht im Palast. Es war sehr dunkel. Es war so dunkel, dass wir uns überhaupt nicht sehen konnten. Wir kollidierten und fielen hin.
Akbar said, “I was very lucky and fell into a pool of Payasam. But guess what you fell into?”
Birbal said, “What did I fall into, your Majesty?”
Akbar laughed loudly and said, “A gutter! You fell into an open gutter.”
TranslateAkbar sagte: „Ich hatte großes Glück und bin in einen Pool von Payasam gefallen. Aber raten Sie mal, in was Sie gefallen sind?”
Birbal sagte: „Worauf bin ich hereingefallen, Majestät?”
Akbar lachte laut und sagte: „Eine Rinne! Sie sind in eine offene Rinne gefallen.”
Akbar and Birbal both laughed loudly at the King’s joke. The King was thrilled that he was able to make a joke on Birbal and Birbal was laughing as well. He thought the Birbal could not respond since it was a great joke and could not be replied to.
Birbal however was unperturbed. He was very clever and thought of a brilliant response.
TranslateAkbar und Birbal lachten beide laut über den Witz des Königs. Der König war begeistert, dass er einen Witz über Birbal machen konnte und Birbal lachte ebenfalls. Er dachte, der Birbal könne nicht antworten, da es ein großer Witz sei und nicht beantwortet werden könne.
Birbal war jedoch nicht gestört. Er war sehr schlau und dachte an eine brillante Antwort.
Birbal said, “Your Majesty, it is a wonder but I too had the same dream a few days ago. In my dream I fell into the gutter and you fell into the Payasam. But that was not the end of the dream. I slept some more and the end was different.
Akbar said, “What was the end of the dream?”
TranslateBirbal sagte: „Majestät, es ist ein Wunder, aber auch ich hatte vor ein paar Tagen den gleichen Traum. In meinem Traum bin ich in die Rinne gefallen und Sie sind in den Payasam gefallen. Aber das war nicht das Ende des Traums. Ich habe geschlafen noch mehr und das Ende war anders.
Akbar sagte: „Was war das Ende des Traums?”
Birbal said, “You climbed out of that pool of delicious Payasam and I climbed out of that gutter. We found that there was no water left in the world. We really needed to clean ourselves. Please guess what you ordered us to do?”
Akbar said warily, “What was my order Birbal?”
TranslateBirbal sagte: „Sie sind aus diesem Pool mit leckerem Payasam geklettert, und ich bin aus dieser Rinne geklettert. Wir fanden heraus, dass es kein Wasser mehr auf der Welt gab. Wir mussten uns wirklich reinigen. Bitte raten Sie mal, was Sie uns befohlen haben.”
Akbar sagte vorsichtig: “Was war mein Befehl Birbal?”
Birbal said, “We could not see each other so you ordered us to lick each other clean!”
The emperor became red with embarrassment but he laughed loudly. He decided not to try to get the better of Birbal again.
TranslateBirbal sagte: „Wir konnten uns nicht sehen, also haben Sie uns befohlen, uns sauber zu lecken!”
Der Kaiser wurde rot vor Verlegenheit, aber er lachte laut. Er beschloss, nicht noch einmal zu versuchen, Birbal zu besiegen.
