Aesop’s Fables – Die Bienen, die Wespen und die Hornisse
Once upon a time, a bee and a wasp were searching for food for their colonies. They both found a large honeycomb hidden in the tree trunk.

The Bee immediately said, “Bzzzz Bzzzzz. This honey belongs to us. We hid this during the summer. Bzzzz Bzzzz.”
The Wasp said, “You are a liar. We hid this honeycomb last summer.”
The Bee said, “You are a thief. We own this honeycomb, not you.”
TranslateDie Biene sagte sofort: „Bzzzz Bzzzzz. Dieser Honig gehört uns. Wir haben das im Sommer versteckt. Bzzzz Bzzzz. ”

The bees and the wasps were both very angry and fought for days. Soon they almost declared war upon each other. They decided it would be best if they appointed a judge who would decide.
They decided that the case should be decided by Hornet, the judge who helped maintained peace in their forest. The Hornet was a fair judge and wanted to hear both sides of the story.
TranslateDie Bienen und die Wespen waren beide sehr wütend und stritten tagelang. Bald erklärten sie sich fast gegenseitig den Krieg. Sie beschlossen, dass es am besten wäre, wenn sie einen Richter ernennen würden, der entscheiden würde.

The Judge heard the witnesses brought forward by both sides. The Bees brought forward witnesses who were all bees. The witnesses swore that the bees built the nest and the wasps were thieves. The Wasps brought forward witnesses who were all wasps. The witnesses swore that the Wasps built the nest and the bees were liars.
TranslateDer Richter hörte die von beiden Seiten vorgebrachten Zeugen. Die Bienen brachten Zeugen vor, die alle Bienen waren. The Judge heard the case for six weeks and then said wisely, “I have heard both sides of the case and I thank you for your patience. I have a simple test for both groups.”
The wasps and the bees listened very attentively. A simple test? If they passed the test, then the hive would belong to the winner.
TranslateDer Richter hörte sich den Fall sechs Wochen lang an und sagte dann weise: „Ich habe beide Seiten des Falles gehört und danke Ihnen für Ihre Geduld. Ich habe einen einfachen Test für beide Gruppen. “
Die Wespen und Bienen haben sehr aufmerksam zugehört. Ein einfacher Test? Wenn sie den Test bestanden, dann würde der Bienenstock dem Gewinner gehören.
The Judge said, “Both the bees and the wasps should build a hive similar to this one. Whichever hive is most similar, they can take the honey home.”
The wasps immediately protested and in a hurry said, “But we don’t know how to build a hive. That is not a fair test.”
TranslateDer Richter sagte: „Sowohl die Bienen als auch die Wespen sollten einen ähnlichen Bienenstock bauen. Welcher Bienenstock am ähnlichsten ist, sie können den Honig mit nach Hause nehmen. “
Die Wespen protestierten sofort und sagten in Eile: “Aber wir wissen nicht, wie man einen Bienenstock baut. Das ist kein fairer Test. “
The Hornet smiled and said, “If you say that the test is unfair because you do not know how to build a hive, then how did you build the other hive in the first place?”
And so the honey bees won the case and they took all the honey.
TranslateDie Hornisse lächelte und sagte: “Wenn Sie sagen, dass der Test unfair ist, weil Sie nicht wissen, wie man einen Bienenstock baut, wie haben Sie dann überhaupt den anderen Bienenstock gebaut?”
Und so gewannen die Honigbienen den Fall und nahmen den ganzen Honig mit.
