Aesop’s Fables – Der Wolf und sein Schatten
Once upon a time, there lived a Wolf in the forest. The wolf was very arrogant. He always thought that he was the largest and the strongest animal in the world. He never respected any animal. He did not even respect the Lion and believed that he would be a stronger and greater king.
He once had a heavy meal and came out to the sunset. In the sunset, the shadow is very long. He saw that the shadow cast by the sun was very long. It made him look a hundred times bigger than he actually was.
“Oh how huge and powerful I am. I am so much bigger than the lion. I must go and challenge him to a fight.”
Saying so, he ran to the lion. The lion was fast asleep and had no visible shadow. The wolf thought that he was very large compared to the lion. The wolf howled and woke up the lion and challenged him to a fight.
The lion stood up in anger and the wolf saw that the lion’s shadow was so many times bigger than his. He had to run away from the forest to save his own life.
