Once upon a time, King Akbar was walking to the temple with his ministers. He saw a blind man begging in the street. Akbar felt bad for the blind man.
Akbar said to his ministers, “I wish to give all the Blind people in the kingdom 10 gold coins each.”
TranslateEs war einmal, als König Akbar mit seinen Ministern zum Tempel ging. Er sah einen Blinden auf der Straße betteln. Akbar fühlte sich schlecht für den Blinden.
Akbar sagte zu seinen Ministern: „Ich möchte allen Blinden im Königreich jeweils 10 Goldmünzen geben.”
All the ministers said, “That is an excellent idea, my King. You are so kind.”
Birbal said, “My King. Not all blind people are poor. Many poor people are not blind. Is it fair to give alms to only blind people?”
TranslateAlle Minister sagten: „Das ist eine hervorragende Idee, mein König. Sie sind so nett.”
Birbal sagte: „Mein König. Nicht alle Blinden sind arm. Viele arme Leute sind nicht blind. Ist es fair, nur Blinden Almosen zu geben?“
Akbar grew very angry. He said, “I have made up my mind. My ministers, I order you to prepare a list of all blind people in the kingdom by next week.”
The ministers prepared the list and showed it to Akbar. Akbar saw the list and it had a list of 800 people in the kingdom. He asked Birbal to review the list.

Die Minister bereiteten die Liste vor und zeigten sie Akbar. Akbar sah die Liste und es gab eine Liste von 800 Menschen im Königreich. Er bat Birbal, die Liste zu überprüfen.
Birbal took a look at the list and said, “This list is incomplete. I can see that there are many people who are missed out. Please give me one more day and I shall complete the list.”
King Akbar said, “I will give you one day to complete the list.”
TranslateBirbal warf einen Blick auf die Liste und sagte: „Diese Liste ist unvollständig. Ich kann sehen, dass es viele Menschen gibt, die vermisst werden. Bitte geben Sie mir noch einen Tag und ich werde die Liste vervollständigen. “
König Akbar sagte: „Ich werde Ihnen einen Tag Zeit geben, um die Liste zu vervollständigen.”
Birbal went to the market and sat down outside the market entrance. He took the frame of an old cot with him and started to weave the cot with string.
A courtier passed by and asked Birbal, “Hi Birbal, what are you doing in the market?”
TranslateBirbal ging zum Markt und setzte sich vor den Markteingang. Er nahm den Rahmen eines alten Feldbetts mit und begann, das Feldbett mit einer Schnur zu weben.
Ein Höfling kam vorbei und fragte Birbal: „Hallo Birbal, was machen Sie auf dem Markt?”
Birbal did not reply to the minister but mumbled something to his servant who wrote something on a scroll. Many people recognized Birbal and went and asked him what he was doing. Birbal ignored all of them.
Soon Akbar found out that Birbal was in the market weaving a cot. He went to Birbal and said, “My dear Birbal, what are you doing?”
TranslateBirbal antwortete dem Minister nicht, sondern murmelte etwas zu seinem Diener, der etwas auf eine Schriftrolle schrieb. Viele Leute erkannten Birbal und gingen und fragten ihn, was er tue. Birbal ignorierte sie alle.
Bald fand Akbar heraus, dass Birbal auf dem Markt war und ein Feldbett webte. Er ging zu Birbal und sagte: “Mein lieber Birbal, was machen Sie?”
Birbal continued weaving the cot. He took the scroll from his servant’s hand and gave it to Akbar.
Birbal said, “Please find the complete list of all blind people in this Kingdom.”
TranslateBirbal webte das Feldbett weiter. Er nahm die Schriftrolle aus der Hand seines Dieners und gab sie Akbar.
Birbal sagte: “Bitte finden Sie die vollständige Liste aller Blinden in diesem Königreich.”
Akbar went through the list and was shocked. His name was the last name in the list. Akbar grew very angry.
Akbar said, “Birbal. Why is my name on the list of blind people?”
TranslateAkbar ging die Liste durch und war schockiert. Sein Name war am Ende in der Liste. Akbar wurde sehr wütend.
Akbar sagte: „Birbal. Warum steht mein Name auf der Liste der Blinden?“
Birbal said, “You and others on the list saw me weaving a cot. Even after seeing me, you asked me what I was doing. The blind people did not ask me anything and went on their own way.”
Akbar laughed and said, “Well done Birbal. You have opened my eyes and proved that I was indeed blind.”
TranslateBirbal sagte: „Sie und andere auf der Liste haben gesehen, wie ich ein Feldbett gewebt habe. Selbst nachdem Sie mich gesehen haben, haben Sie mich gefragt, was ich tue. Die Blinden haben mich nichts gefragt und sind ihren eigenen Weg gegangen. “
Akbar lachte und sagte: „Gut gemacht, Birbal. Sie haben meine Augen geöffnet und bewiesen, dass ich tatsächlich blind war.“
