Once upon a time, two travellers were travelling together. They were going from one town to another town when they met on the way.

Es waren einmal zwei Reisende, die zusammen unterwegs waren. Sie gingen von einer Stadt in eine andere, als sie sich unterwegs trafen.

 

When they were walking, one of the travellers found a purse. He opened the purse and it was filled with many gold and silver coins. The traveller was overjoyed.

Als sie gingen, fand einer der Reisenden eine Geldbörse. Er öffnete die Geldbörse und sie war mit vielen Gold- und Silbermünzen gefüllt. Der Reisende war überglücklich.

 

“Oh how lucky I am”, he said, “I have found such a large purse and that too filled with gold and silver coins. This should be my lucky day. I am rich!”

Translate
“Oh, wie viel Glück ich habe“, sagte er, „ich habe eine so große Geldbörse gefunden, die auch mit Gold- und Silbermünzen gefüllt ist. Heute sollte mein Glückstag sein. Ich bin reich!”

 

The other traveller said, “Do not say that ‘I have found the purse’ when we are travelling together. Say that ‘we have found the purse’ since travellers must share their fortunes or misfortunes together.”

Der andere Reisende sagte: „Sag nicht, dass ich die Geldbörse gefunden habe, wenn wir zusammen reisen. Sag: “Wir haben die Geldbörse gefunden”, da Reisende ihr Glück oder Unglück miteinander teilen müssen. “

The first traveller put the purse into his pocket. He angrily said, “No No. I found the purse. I am keeping the purse. You cannot have it!”

Der erste Reisende steckte die Geldbörse in seine Tasche. Er sagte wütend: „Nein, nein, ich habe die Geldbörse gefunden. Ich behalte die Geldbörse. Du kannst sie nicht haben! “

 

Suddenly there was a lot of noise, “Look! There are two travellers there! They must be the thieves who stole the purse”. They turned and saw a large mob carrying clubs and swords.

Plötzlich gab es viel Lärm: „Schau! Es sind zwei Reisende da! Sie müssen die Diebe sein, die die Geldbörse gestohlen haben. “ Sie drehten sich um und sahen einen großen Mob, der Knüppel und Schwerter trug.

 

The man who found the purse started to panic while the second traveller was calm.

The first traveller said, “We are going to be beaten up by the mob if they find they purse with us! We are in so much trouble. What should we do?”

Der Mann, der die Geldbörse fand, geriet in Panik, während der zweite Reisende ruhig war.

Der erste Reisende sagte: „Wir werden vom Mob zusammengeschlagen, wenn sie die Geldbörse bei uns finden! Wir sind in so großen Schwierigkeiten. Was sollen wir machen?”

 

The second traveller said, “No No. You did not say ‘We’ before and declared that the purse belongs only to you. Now say ‘I am in so much trouble’ and not ‘We’.”

Der zweite Reisende sagte: “Nein, nein. Du hast vorher nicht „Wir “gesagt und erklärt, dass die Geldbörse nur dir gehört. Sag jetzt “Ich bin in so großen Schwierigkeiten” und nicht “Wir”. “
