Aesop’s Fables – Der Hund und das Abendessen seines Meisters
Once upon a time, there was a dog who lived with his master. The dog was very faithful and loving to his master.
His master taught him to carry a small pouch of money to the Bakery. The baker would then take the pouch of money. The Baker would give the dog a basket filled with meat and bread.

Sein Meister brachte ihm bei, einen kleinen Beutel Geld zur Bäckerei zu tragen. Der Bäcker würde dann den Geldbeutel nehmen. Der Bäcker gab dem Hund einen Korb mit Fleisch und Brot.
The dog would carry the food back to his master. As a reward, the master would feed some meat and bread to the dog. The dog could smell the tasty food but he was very loyal and never stopped to eat it.
The other dogs in the neighbourhood always saw the dog carrying a basket of food. They made many attempts to steal the basket but he was a strong and big dog. Nobody could stop him from his duty. So the other dogs decided to convince him to join them.
TranslateDer Hund würde das Essen zu seinem Meister zurückbringen. Als Belohnung fütterte der Meister den Hund mit Fleisch und Brot. Der Hund konnte das leckere Futter riechen, aber er war sehr treu und hörte nie auf, es zu fressen.
Die anderen Hunde in der Nachbarschaft sahen immer, wie der Hund einen Korb mit Essen trug. Sie machten viele Versuche, den Korb zu stehlen, aber er war ein starker und großer Hund. Niemand konnte ihn von seiner Pflicht abhalten. Also beschlossen die anderen Hunde, ihn zu überzeugen, sich ihnen anzuschließen.
They told him that he could eat the entire basket instead of just scraps. The dog tried to run away but they surrounded him and spoke to him saying that he was a fool.
The dog stopped to argue and soon he began to think that he was a fool. He dropped the basket and grabbed the biggest piece of meat.
He said, “You can divide the rest.”
TranslateSie sagten ihm, er könnte den ganzen Korb fressen, anstatt nur Schrott. Der Hund versuchte wegzulaufen, aber sie umringten ihn und sprachen mit ihm, dass er ein Dummkopf sei.
Der Hund blieb stehen, um zu streiten, und bald begann er zu glauben, er sei ein Dummkopf. Er ließ den Korb fallen und griff nach dem größten Stück Fleisch.
Er sagte: „Ihr könnt den Rest teilen.”
