Aesop’s Fables – Der Fuchs und der Storch
The fox is a very sly animal. He always wants to play tricks on every neighbour in the forest. He particularly loved making fun of the stork. He thought that the stork looked funny with its lock legs, long beak, long neck and small body.
TranslateDer Fuchs ist ein sehr schlaues Tier. Er will immer jedem Nachbarn im Wald einen Streich spielen. Er liebte es besonders, sich über den Storch lustig zu machen. One day he thought of a brilliant plan.
“Ohhh. This trick is very funny. I must play this trick on the Stork”, he thought to himself.
TranslateEines Tages dachte er an einen brillanten Plan.
„Oh. Dieser Trick ist sehr lustig. Ich muss dem Storch diesen Streich spielen “, dachte er bei sich.
He went to the Stork and pretended to be a good neighbour.
The Fox said, “Hello, Mr Stork. I hope you are well, this fine morning.”
The Stork replied, “Why, I am very well Mr Fox, thank you so much for asking.”
TranslateEr ging zum Storch und gab vor, ein guter Nachbar zu sein.
Der Fuchs sagte: „Hallo, Herr Storch. Ich hoffe, es geht Ihnen gut, an diesem schönen Morgen. “
Der Storch antwortete: „Mir geht es sehr gut, Herr Fuchs. Vielen Dank, dass Sie gefragt haben.”
The Fox smiled and said, “You must come home for dinner. I have caught a very tasty fish today morning. I wish to make and share a delicious bowl of fish soup with you.”
Mr. Stork was very pleased. “Definitely Mr. Fox. I shall see you at your home.”
TranslateDer Fuchs lächelte und sagte: „Sie müssen zum Abendessen nach Hause kommen. Ich habe heute Morgen einen sehr leckeren Fisch gefangen. Ich möchte eine köstliche Schüssel Fischsuppe machen und mit Ihnen teilen. “
Herr Storch war sehr zufrieden. „Auf jeden Fall Herr Fuchs. Ich werde Sie bei Ihnen zu Hause sehen. “
The stork arrived to the home of the Fox with good hunger for he loved fish soup. They chatted for a while and the Fox saw that the Stork was getting hungry.
TranslateDer Storch kam mit gutem Hunger nach dem Haus des Fuchses, weil er Fischsuppe liebte. Sie plauderten eine Weile und der Fuchs sah, dass der Storch hungrig wurde.
The Fox served the soup but in a very shallow plate. The stork had such a long beak that it could only wet the tip of its beak. He could not swallow a single drop of soup. Meanwhile, the Fox was loudly lapping away making loud sounds of happiness.
TranslateDer Fuchs servierte die Suppe aber in einem sehr flachen Teller. Der Storch hatte einen so langen Schnabel, dass er nur die Spitze seines Schnabels benetzen konnte. Er konnte keinen Tropfen Suppe schlucken. In der Zwischenzeit leckte der Fuchs laut und machte laute Geräusche des Glücks.
The Stork was a very calm and smart bird and did not want to start a fight with the Fox. There was no use of fighting with the Fox. He thanked the Fox for the meal and went home hungry.
TranslateDer Storch war ein sehr ruhiger und kluger Vogel und wollte keinen Kampf mit dem Fuchs beginnen. Es hatte keinen Sinn, mit dem Fuchs zu kämpfen. Er dankte dem Fuchs für das Essen und ging hungrig nach Hause.
A few days later, the Stork called the fox. He went to the Fox and pretended to be a good neighbour.
The Stork said, “Hello, Mr Fox. I hope you are well, this fine morning.”

The fox arrived to the home of the stork with good hunger for he too loved fish soup. They chatted for a while. The Stork waited until the Fox was very hungry.

The Stork served the soup but in a tall jar with a very narrow neck. The stork had such a long beak that he could dip his beak in and enjoy the soup. The fox could not swallow a single drop of soup since the jar was too deep. The fox soon lost its temper. The stork merely said, “Do not play tricks on your neighbors unless you can stand the same treatment yourself.”
TranslateDer Storch servierte die Suppe, aber in einem hohen Glas mit einem sehr schmalen Hals. Der Storch hatte einen so langen Schnabel, dass er seinen Schnabel eintauchen und die Suppe genießen konnte. Der Fuchs konnte keinen Tropfen Suppe schlucken, da das Glas zu tief war. Der Fuchs verlor bald die Beherrschung. Der Storch sagte nur, „Spielen Sie Ihren Nachbarn keine Streiche, wenn Sie nicht selbst die gleiche Behandlung ertragen können.”
