He decided that he would go and ask the grasshoppers their secret.
TranslateL’Asino pensò: “Hanno delle voci così melodiose. Anch’io desidero cantare come loro».
Decise che sarebbe andato a chiedere alle cavallette il loro segreto.
The Ass said to the grasshoppers, “BRAAAY! BRAAAY! Dear Grasshoppers. Would you sing a song for me, you have such a melodious voice”
The Grasshoppers were always happy to sing. They sang a very beautiful song for the Ass.

Le Cavallette erano molto dispettose. Decisero di ingannare l’asino.
They said to the Ass, “CHIRP! CHIRP! Can you see the dew on top of the grass? We drink only the dew. We do not eat the grass. The grass makes your voice sound harsh.”
The Ass said, “Thank you so much for telling me.”
TranslateDissero all’asino: “CHIRP! CHIRP! Riesci a vedere la rugiada sopra l’erba? Beviamo solo la rugiada. Non mangiamo l’erba. L’erba fa sembrare la tua voce aspra.
L’asino disse: “Grazie mille per avermelo detto”.
For the next two days, the Ass licked the grass and did not eat. He was very tired and he fainted. When the Ass woke up, he had learned his lesson.
