Aesop’s Fables – De reizigers en de zee
Once upon a time, there were two travellers who were walking down the beach. They were thinking of ways to become rich.
The travellers saw something in the Sea. It was slowly coming towards them.

De reizigers zagen iets in de Zee. Het kwam langzaam op hen af.
The first traveller said, “Look, there is something coming towards us in the sea. What could it be?”
The second traveller said, “Maybe it is a huge ship carrying gold and silver. Maybe they are looking for someone to share it with.”
The first traveller said, “Oh we are so lucky”
TranslateDe eerste reiziger zei: “Kijk, er komt iets op ons af in de zee. Wat kan het zijn?”
De tweede reiziger zei: “Misschien is het een enorm schip dat goud en zilver vervoert. Misschien zijn ze op zoek naar iemand om het mee te delen.”
De eerste reiziger zei: “Oh, we hebben zoveel geluk.”
The object moved closer to them. It was not a ship.
The first traveller said, “It is not a large ship. What else could it be?”
TranslateHet object kwam dichterbij. Het was geen schip.
De eerste reiziger zei: “Het is geen groot schip. Wat zou het anders kunnen zijn?”
The second traveller said, “Maybe it is a small boat carrying the tastiest fish. Maybe they are looking for someone to share it with.”
The first traveller said, “Oh we are so lucky”
TranslateDe tweede reiziger zei: “Misschien is het een kleine boot die de lekkerste vis vervoert. Misschien zijn ze op zoek naar iemand om het mee te delen.”
De eerste reiziger zei: “Oh, we hebben zoveel geluk”

The first traveller said, “It is not a boat. What else could it be?”
TranslateHet object kwam dichter naar hen toe. Het was geen boot.
De eerste reiziger zei: “Het is geen boot. Wat zou het anders kunnen zijn?”
The second traveller said, “Maybe it is a small chest of Gold. Maybe we can sell it and become rich.”
The first traveller said, “Oh we are so lucky”
TranslateDe tweede reiziger zei: “Misschien is het een kleine kist met goud. Misschien kunnen we het verkopen en rijk worden.”
De eerste reiziger zei: “Oh, we hebben zoveel geluk”
The object washed along the shore. It was not a ship. It was not a boat. It was not a chest of gold. It was just a wooden log.
TranslateHet object spoelde langs de kust. Het was geen schip. Het was geen boot. Het was geen kist met goud. Het was gewoon een houten blok.
Moral: “Do not let your hopes carry you away from reality.”
TranslateMoraal: “Laat uw hoop u niet wegvoeren van de realiteit.”
