Aesop’s Fables – Il bue e le rane
Once upon a time, there lived a family of frogs in a pond. There was papa Frog who had a fat belly and a loud croak. There was mama Frog who had large beautiful eyes. There was brother Frog who had a long tongue. There was a sister Frog who had long pretty nails.

Grandpa frog always used to read the newspaper. Grandma frog loved to bake. There also were many baby frogs. They were a very happy family of frogs.

One day, a large ox came to the pond to drink water. SPLAAAASH he walked straight into the pond and drank water. Papa frog and brother frog had gone to work in the fields. All the other frogs had gone to the shop to buy cakes. Only the baby frogs saw the Ox for the first time.
TranslateUn giorno, un grande bue venne allo stagno per bere l’acqua. SPLAAAASH andò dritto nello stagno e bevve acqua. Papà ranocchio e fratello ranocchio erano andati a lavorare nei campi. Tutte le altre rane erano andate al negozio a comprare le torte. Solo le piccole rane hanno visto il Bue per la prima volta.
“Woow. You are so big” said one of the baby frogs to the Ox.
“Hello, baby frog. Yes I am very big” said the ox proudly.
Translate“Woow. Sei così grande ”disse una delle piccole rane al Bue.
“Ciao, piccola rana. Sì, sono molto grande ”disse orgoglioso il bue.
“Who are you” asked the baby frog.
“I am the Ox, strong and powerful. I pull the carts for my friend, the farmer”
Translate“Chi sei?” ha chiesto la piccola rana.
“Io sono il bue, forte e potente. Tiro i carri per il mio amico, il contadino “
“Wow. That huge cart over there”, said the baby frog amazed.
“Yes. I can pull it easily even if 10 men sat in it” said the ox proudly.
Translate“Wow. Quell’enorme carretto laggiù”, disse stupita la piccola rana.
“Sì. Posso tirarlo facilmente anche se ci siedono 10 uomini” disse orgoglioso il bue.
“There is no bigger animal than the Ox” said one of the baby frogs.
“Indeed”, said all the baby frogs together.
“You are right!” said the Ox.
Translate“Non esiste un animale più grande del Bue”, ha detto una delle piccole rane.
“Effettivamente”, dissero insieme tutte le rane del bambino.
“Hai ragione!” disse il bue.
In the evening when all the frogs came back home, the baby frogs were very excited.
“What happened here? Why are you all excited?” asked papa frog.

“Cos’è successo qua? Perché siete tutti eccitati? ” ha chiesto papà rana.
“We saw an Ox. He is the biggest animal in the entire world” said one of the baby frogs.
“Hmm. Big was he? Is he bigger than me?” said Papa frog loudly.
Translate“Abbiamo visto un bue. È l’animale più grande del mondo intero” ha detto una delle piccole rane.
“Hmm. Era grande? È più grande di me? ” disse ad alta voce Papà rana.
“Yes. He is so much bigger” said the baby frog.
Papa frog pulled in his breath and puffed himself up.
Translate“Sì. È molto più grande” disse la piccola rana.
Papà rana trattenne il fiato e si gonfiò.
“Is he still bigger than me?” said Papa frog loudly.
“Yes. He is so much bigger” said the baby frog.
Translate“È ancora più grande di me?” disse ad alta voce Papà rana.
“Sì. È molto più grande” disse la piccola rana.
Papa frog pulled in his breath even more and puffed himself up.
“Is he still bigger than me?” said Papa frog loudly.
TranslatePapà rana trattenne ancora di più il fiato e si gonfiò.
“È ancora più grande di me?” disse ad alta voce Papà rana.
“Yes. He is so much bigger” said the baby frog.
Papa frog pulled in his breath even more with great difficulty. He puffed himself up to his biggest size.
Translate“Sì. È molto più grandedisse la piccola rana.
Papà rana trattenne il fiato ancora di più con grande difficoltà. Si gonfiò fino alla sua taglia più grande.
“Is he still bigger than me?” said Papa frog loudly.
“Yes. He is so much bigger” said the baby frog.
Translate“È ancora più grande di me?” disse ad alta voce Papà rana.
“Sì. È molto più grande” disse la piccola rana.
Papa frog pulled in his breath one last time. He puffed himself up so much that he exploded.

Do not attempt the impossible.
