Tenali Raman – Tenali Raman en de gewichtheffer
One day, Tenali Raman and his wife were on their way to a famous temple. It was a long journey that would take 3 full days. They stopped at a village on the way to sleep for the night.
TranslateOp een dag waren Tenali Raman en zijn vrouw op weg naar een beroemde tempel. Het was een lange reis die 3 volle dagen zou duren. Ze stopten bij een dorp onderweg om te slapen tijdens de nacht.
Tenali Raman was surprised to see a huge crowd in the middle of the village. Everyone in the village had gathered to watch a weightlifter. The weightlifter had huge big arms and muscles. He picked up a 200 kg bag of rice easily.
TranslateTenali Raman was verrast om een enorme menigte midden in het dorp te zien. Iedereen in het dorp had zich verzameld om naar een gewichtheffer te kijken. De gewichtheffer had enorm grote armen en spieren. Hij pakte gemakkelijk een zak rijst van 200 kg op.
Tenali Raman was very impressed and exclaimed, “You are very strong!”
The Weightlifter said, “Of course I am, you puny man! I am the strongest man in the world. Nobody can do what I do.”
TranslateTenali Raman was erg onder de indruk en riep uit: “Je bent erg sterk!”
De Gewichtheffer zei: “Natuurlijk ben ik dat, jij nietige man! Ik ben de sterkste man ter wereld. Niemand kan doen wat ik doe.”
Tenali Raman was not offended. He smiled and decided that he would teach the weightlifter a lesson on humility.
TranslateTenali Raman was niet beledigd. Hij glimlachte en besloot dat hij de gewichtheffer een les over nederigheid zou leren.
Tenali Raman said, “You think you are strong? Ha Ha. I can carry something even heavier. I will do what Lord Krishna did. I will carry this entire hill on my bare shoulders!”
TranslateTenali Raman zei: “Denk je dat je sterk bent? Ha ha. Ik kan nog iets zwaarder dragen. Ik zal doen wat Heer Krishna deed. Ik zal deze hele heuvel op mijn blote schouders dragen! ”
The weightlifter started to laugh and said, “Ok I accept your offer and I want to see you fail.”
TranslateDe gewichtheffer begon te lachen en zei: “Oké, ik accepteer je aanbod en ik wil dat je faalt.”
Tenali Raman said, “I will be performing the feat in the morning. To help me prepare, I need a comfortable place to stay, food to eat and a massage.”
TranslateTenali Raman zei: “Ik zal de prestatie morgenochtend uitvoeren. Om me voor te bereiden, heb ik een comfortabele plek nodig om te verblijven, eten om te eten en een massage. ”
Everyone wanted to see Tenali Raman perform this feat. The Weightlifter agreed to pay for him and his wife. He had the best food and a long massage and woke up in the morning fully refreshed.
TranslateIedereen wilde Tenali Raman deze prestatie zien uitvoeren. De Gewichtheffer stemde ermee in om voor hem en zijn vrouw te betalen. Hij had het beste eten en een lange massage en werd ‘s ochtends volledig verfrist wakker.
The entire village folk were waiting at the base of the hill. They were waiting to see Tenali Raman carrying the hill.
TranslateDe hele dorpsbewoners wachtten aan de voet van de heuvel. Ze wachtten om Tenali Raman de heuvel te zien dragen.
Tenali Raman stood next to the weightlifter and said, “Well, why are we waiting?”
The weightlifter said, “You are supposed to pick up the hill! We are waiting for you.”
TranslateTenali Raman stond naast de gewichtheffer en zei: “Waarom wachten we?”
De gewichtheffer zei: “Je moet de heuvel oprapen! We wachten op je. ”
Tenali Raman said, “I never said I would pick up the hill. I said that I can carry it on my shoulders. Someone please place it on my shoulders so that I can carry it.”
TranslateTenali Raman zei: “Ik heb nooit gezegd dat ik de heuvel zou oppakken. Ik zei dat ik het op mijn schouders kan dragen. Iemand plaats het alsjeblieft op mijn schouders zodat ik het kan dragen. ”
The weightlifter and the villagers began to laugh as they understood what Tenali Raman had done.
TranslateDe gewichtheffer en de dorpelingen begonnen te lachen toen ze begrepen wat Tenali Raman had gedaan.
The weightlifter said, “I respect you for your intelligence. A man as intelligent as you should not be asked to carry anything except the world.”
TranslateDe gewichtheffer zei: “Ik respecteer je voor je intelligentie. Een man die zo intelligent is als jij, zou niet gevraagd moeten worden iets anders te dragen dan de wereld. ”
