Once upon a time, there was a peacock who was very vain. He used to show off to everyone. One day he met a crane.
The peacock thought, “Look at this ugly crane. Let me show him how beautiful I am.”
TranslateEr was eens een pauw die erg ijdel was. Hij pronkte altijd bij iedereen. Op een dag ontmoette hij een kraanvogel.
De pauw dacht: “Kijk eens naar deze lelijke kraanvogel. Ik zal hem laten zien hoe mooi ik ben. “
The peacock spread its gorgeous tail fully in the sun.
The peacock said to the crane, “Look how beautiful my tail is. You are grey in color while I am so colorful. I am the most beautiful bird in the world with all my colors. You must feel so bad next to me.”
TranslateDe pauw spreidde zijn prachtige staart volledig in de zon.
De pauw zei tegen de kraanvogel: “Kijk eens hoe mooi mijn staart is. Jij bent grijs van kleur terwijl ik zo kleurrijk ben. Ik ben de mooiste vogel ter wereld met al mijn kleuren. Je voelt je zeker zo rot naast mij.”
The crane said, “You may be colorful, and I may be grey. But can you do this?”
The crane spread its wings and flew up towards the skies. The peacock could only sadly watch. The peacock was just like another farm bird; stuck to the ground.
TranslateDe kraanvogel zei: “Jij bent misschien kleurrijk en ik misschien grijs. Maar kun je dit?”
De kraanvogel spreidde zijn vleugels en vloog naar de hemel. De pauw kon alleen maar treurig toekijken. De pauw was net een andere boerderijvogel; vast aan de grond.
Moral: “The useful is of much more importance and value, than the ornamental.”
TranslateMoraal: “Het nuttige is van veel meer belang en waarde dan de sier.”
