Aesop’s  Fables – El Perro y la ostra

 

Once upon a time, there was a dog who was a glutton. He loved food and loved to eat. He used to eat very fast. He used to eat a lot. He was very greedy.

Translate

Había una vez un Perro glotón. Le encantaba la comida y le encantaba comer. Solía comer muy rápido. Solía comer mucho. Era muy codicioso.

 

The dog was very fond of eggs. He frequently visited the chicken coop and used to steal eggs from the hens. He was so greedy that he used to swallow the entire egg. He never used to chew the eggs.

Translate

Al Perro le gustaban mucho los huevos. Con frecuencia visitaba el gallinero y solía robarles huevos a las gallinas. Era tan codicioso que podía tragarse el huevo entero. Nunca solía masticar los huevos.

 

One day, the chickens wanted to teach the dog a lesson. They got a large white oyster and placed it outside the chicken coop.

Translate

Un día, las Gallinas quisieron darle una lección al Perro. Cogieron una gran ostra blanca y la colocaron fuera del gallinero.

 

The dog came to steal eggs and he saw the oyster. He immediately thought that it was an egg. He did not smell the oyster. He did not bite the oyster. He swallowed it completely in one gulp.

Translate

El Perro venía a robar unos huevos y vio la ostra. Inmediatamente pensó que era un huevo. No la olió. No la masticó. Se la tragó por completo de un solo bocado.

 

GULP!!

The entire oyster with its full shell was in his stomach. The dog was in a lot of pain but he had learned his lesson.

¡¡GLUP!!

La ostra entera junto a su caparazón estaba en su estómago. El Perro tenía mucho dolor, pero había aprendido la lección.

 

The dog said, “All that is round is not eggs. I must not be greedy.”

Translate

El perro dijo: “No todo lo redondo es un huevo. No debo ser codicioso.”

 

Moral: “If you are greedy, you will suffer.”

Translate

Moraleja: Si eres codicioso, sufrirás.
