Aesop’s  Fables – El Asno con la piel de león

 

Once upon a time, there was an Ass who lived the forest. The Ass was walking in the forest and he saw a yellow coat. It was the full skin of a Lion.

Translate

Érase una vez un Asno que vivía en el bosque. El Asno caminaba por el bosque cuando vio un abrigo amarillo. Era una piel de león.

 

The Ass said, “Ah. What is this? This is the skin of a lion. A hunter must have forgotten about the skin.”

The Ass thought, “I can use this skin and pretend to be the Lion.”

Translate

El Asno dijo: “Ah. ¿Qué es esto? Esta es la piel de un león. Un cazador debe haberse olvidado de la piel.”.

El Asno pensó: “Puedo usar esta piel y pretender ser el león.”.

 

The Ass wore the skin. He now looked like a great Lion.

The Ass thought, “Wow. I look so scary. I shall frighten all the animals. It will be so funny.”

Translate

El Asno se puso la piel. Ahora parecía un gran león.

El Asno pensó: “Vaya. Me veo tan aterrador. Asustaré a todos los animales. Será muy divertido.”.

 

The Ass hid in a large bush and waited. Mr. Rabbit came hopping. He was carrying three carrots.

HOP! HOP! HOP!

HOP! HOP! HOP!

Translate

El Asno se escondió en un gran arbusto y esperó. El Sr. Conejo venía brincando. Llevaba tres zanahorias.

¡SALTO! ¡SALTO! ¡SALTO!

¡SALTO! ¡SALTO! ¡SALTO!

 

When the rabbit crossed the bush, the Ass jumped out. The Rabbit ran away leaving his three carrots. The Ass laughed and ate the three carrots.

“Ha Ha! I am a smart animal.”

Translate

Cuando el Conejo pasó frente al arbusto, el Asno saltó. El Conejo huyó dejando sus tres zanahorias. El Asno rio y se comió las tres zanahorias.

“¡Ja, ja! Soy un animal inteligente.”

 

The Ass hid in a large bush and waited. Mrs. Deer came hopping. She was carrying a bag of cabbage and a bag of potatoes.

JUMP! JUMP! JUMP!

JUMP! JUMP! JUMP!

Translate

El Asno se escondió en un gran arbusto y esperó. La Sra. Cierva venía brincando. Llevaba una bolsa de repollo y una bolsa de patatas.

¡SALTO! ¡SALTO! ¡SALTO!

¡SALTO! ¡SALTO! ¡SALTO!

 

When the Deer crossed the bush, the Ass jumped out. The Deer ran away leaving the bags. The Ass laughed and ate the cabbage and the potatoes.

“Ha Ha! I am a smart animal.”

Translate

Cuando la Cierva pasó frente al arbusto, el asno saltó. La Cierva huyó dejando las bolsas. El Asno rió y se comió la col y las patatas.

“¡Ja, ja! Soy un animal inteligente.”

 

The Ass again hid in a large bush and waited. Mr. Fox came by sniffing.

SNIFF! SNIFF! SNIFF!

SNIFF! SNIFF! SNIFF!

El Asno se escondió de nuevo en un gran arbusto y esperó. El Sr. Zorro llegaba olfateando.

SNIFF! SNIFF! SNIFF!

SNIFF! SNIFF! SNIFF!

 

When the Fox crossed the bush, the Ass jumped out. Mr. Fox was very hungry and did not see the Lion. The Donkey thought, “He did not see me. I should roar like a lion and he will run away”.

The donkey roared loudly, “BRAY! BRAY! BRAAAAAY!”

Cuando el Zorro pasó frente al arbusto, el Asno saltó. El Sr. Zorro tenía mucha hambre y no vio al león. El Asno pensó: “No me vio. Debería rugir como un león, así él huirá.”.

El burro rugió con fuerza: “¡BRAY! ¡BRAAAY! ¡BRAAAAAY!”

 

Mr. Fox saw the Ass braying and he started to laugh at the Ass.

“Ha Ha! You are such a stupid animal. If you did not bray like an Ass, I would have run away.”

Translate

El Sr. Zorro vio al Asno rebuznar y se echó a reír.

“¡Ja, ja! Eres un animal tan tonto. Si no hubieras rebuznado, habría salido huyendo.”

 

Moral:A fool may deceive by his dress and appearance, but his words will soon show what he really is.

Translate

Moraleja: Un tonto puede engañar por su vestimenta y apariencia, pero sus palabras pronto mostrarán lo que realmente es.
