Aesop’s Fables – El Asno, el Zorro y el León
Once upon a time, a Fox was good friends with an Ass. The Ass used to eat the grass in the farm. The Fox used to eat a chicken once in a while or steal some cheese.
TranslateÉrase una vez un Zorro, quien era buen amigo de un Asno. El Asno solía comerse la hierba de la granja. El Zorro solía comer pollo de vez en cuando o robar un poco de queso.
One day they were walking around the forest when they came across a Lion. They both became very frightened.
TranslateUn día estaban caminando por el bosque cuando se encontraron con un León. Ambos se asustaron mucho.
The Donkey said, “My friend, the Lion will surely kill us. He is so scary!”
The Fox was very cunning. He decided that he will betray the Donkey and escape.
TranslateEl Asno dijo: “Amigo mío, el León seguramente nos matará. ¡Da tanto miedo!”.
El Zorro era muy astuto. Decidió que traicionaría al Asno y escaparía.
He said to the Donkey, “Don’t worry. I will talk to the Lion and trick him.”
TranslateLe dijo al Asno: “No te preocupes. Hablaré con el León y lo engañaré.”.
The Fox walked up to the Lion boldly and said, “My great King, your highness, the great Lion. I have a very stupid friend. If you promise not to hurt me, I shall lead him to a deep pit so that he cannot escape. You can just go in and eat him easily.”
TranslateEl Zorro se acercó al León con valentía y dijo: “Mi gran Rey, su alteza, el gran León. Tengo un amigo muy tonto. Si promete no lastimarme, lo llevaré a un pozo profundo para que no pueda escapar. Puede entrar y comérselo fácilmente.”.
The Lion looked at him and agreed to the terms of the Fox.
TranslateEl León lo miró y aceptó los términos del Zorro.
The Fox went to the Donkey and said loudly, “He promised that he won’t hurt us since he has already finished his dinner. Let us hide before he wants to eat us!”
TranslateEl Zorro se acercó al Asno y le dijo en voz alta: “Prometió que no nos haría daño porque ya terminó su cena. ¡Escondámonos antes de que quiera comernos!”.
The Donkey said, “You are such a good friend. I shall follow you.”
TranslateEl Asno le dijo: “Eres un buen amigo. Te seguiré.”.
The lion was watching silently as the Fox took the Donkey into a deep ditch and came out. The Lion looked at him and pounced on top of his throat.
TranslateEl León miraba en silencio mientras el Zorro llevaba al Asno a una zanja profunda y salía. El León lo miró y se abalanzó sobre su garganta.
“You just betrayed your friend. How do I know that you won’t betray me as well?”
Translate“Acabas de traicionar a tu amigo. ¿Cómo sé que no me traicionarás a mí también?”
Moral: “Traitors may expect treachery.”
TranslateMoraleja: Los traidores pueden esperar traición.
