Aesop’s Fables – Los Viajeros y el Árbol de plátano
Once upon a time, there were two travellers. They were walking from one town to another town.
The sun was bright and it was very hot. They were very tired and could no longer walk.
TranslateÉrase una vez dos Viajeros. Ellos caminaban de un pueblo a otro.
El sol brillaba y hacía mucho calor. Estaban muy cansados y ya no podían caminar más.
“Look. A plane tree! It is so shady under it. We can go and rest under the tree.”
“Sir Plane tree, can I come and rest under you? It is very hot”, said the traveller to the tree.
Translate“Mira. ¡Un Árbol de plátano! Hay tanta sombra debajo de él. Podemos ir a descansar bajo el Árbol.”
“Señor Árbol de plátano, ¿podemos ir a descansar debajo de usted? Hace mucho calor”, le dijo el Viajero al Árbol.
“But of course” said the tree and the travellers came and sat under the tree.
After some time, the travellers looked up the tree and saw that there were no fruits.
Translate“Pero por supuesto” dijo el Árbol, los Viajeros fueron y se sentaron debajo del Árbol.
Después de un tiempo, los Viajeros miraron arriba hacia el Árbol y vieron que no había frutos.
“My dear Plane tree, don’t you have any fruits?” said the travellers to the tree
“No, I cannot make any fruits”, said the tree to the travellers and smiled widely.
Translate“Mi querido Árbol de plátanos, ¿no tiene frutos?” dijeron los Viajeros al Árbol.
“No, no puedo hacer ninguna fruta.”, dijo el Árbol a los viajeros y sonrió ampliamente.
“Oh Ok. So you cannot give me any food to eat” said the travellers and smirked.
After some time, the travellers looked up the tree and saw that there were no flowers.
“My dear Plane tree, don’t you have any flowers?” said the travellers to the tree
Translate“Ah, de acuerdo. Así que no nos puede dar ningún fruto para comer.” dijeron los viajeros y sonrieron.
Después de un tiempo, los Viajeros miraron arriba hacia el Árbol y vieron que no había flores.
“Mi querido Árbol de plátano, ¿no tiene flores?” dijeron los Viajeros al Árbol.
“No, I cannot make any flowers”, said the tree to the travellers and smiled widely.
“Oh Ok. So you cannot give me any flowers to smell” said the travellers and smirked.
Translate“No, no puedo hacer flores.”, dijo el Árbol a los Viajeros y sonrió ampliamente.
“Ah, de acuerdo. Entonces no nos puede dar ninguna flor para oler.”, dijeron los Viajeros y sonrieron.
After some time, the travellers looked up the tree and saw that the wood was very weak.
“My dear Plane tree, don’t you have any strong wood which we can use?” said the travellers to the tree
TranslateDespués de un tiempo, los Viajeros miraron arriba hacia el Árbol y vieron que la madera era muy débil.
“Mi querido Árbol de plátano, ¿no tiene madera fuerte que podamos usar?”, dijeron los Viajeros al Árbol.
“No, my wood is weak”, said the tree to the travellers and smiled widely.
“Oh Ok. So you cannot give me anything useful. You cannot make tasty fruits. You cannot make good smelling flowers. You cannot make strong wood. You must be the most useless tree of all. And yet you smile so widely like a fool” said the travellers and laughed.
Translate“No, mi madera es débil.”, dijo el Árbol a los Viajeros y sonrió ampliamente.
“Ah, de acuerdo. Entonces no puede darnos nada útil. No puede hacer frutas sabrosas. No puede darnos flores con buen olor. No tiene una madera resistente. Debe ser el Árbol más inútil de todos. Y, sin embargo, sonríe tan ampliamente como un tonto.”, dijeron los Viajeros y se rieron.
“Do not be so ungrateful. I may not produce flowers with a beautiful smell. I may not produce tasty fruit. I may not produce strong wood. But at this very moment, I am giving you shade from the sun. You are refreshed and alive only because of me” said the tree and continued to smile.
Translate“No sean tan ingratos. Puede que no produzca flores con un olor hermoso. Puede que no produzca fruta sabrosa. Puede que no produzca madera resistente. Pero en este mismo momento, les estoy dando sombra del sol. Están frescos y vivos solo por mí.”, dijo el Árbol y continuó sonriendo.
Moral: All of God’s creations have a good purpose. We should never belittle the creations of God.
