Aesop’s Fables – El Buey y las ranas
Once upon a time, there lived a family of frogs in a pong. There was papa Frog with fat belly and loud croak. There was mama Frog with her large beautiful eyes. There was brother Frog with his long tongue. There was sister Frog with her long nails.
There also were many baby frogs. Grandpa frog always used to read the newspaper. Grandma frog loved to bake. They were a very happy family of frogs.

También había muchas ranas bebé. El abuelo rana siempre solía leer el periódico. A la abuela rana le encantaba hornear. Eran una familia de ranas muy feliz.
One day, a large ox came to the pond to drink water. SPLAAAASH he walked straight into the pond and drank water. Papa frog and brother frog had gone to work in the fields. All the other frogs had gone to the shop to buy cakes. Only the baby frogs saw the Ox for the first time.
TranslateUn día, un buey grande llegó al estanque para beber agua. SPLAAAASH entró directamente en el estanque y bebió agua. Papá rana y su hermano rana se habían ido a trabajar al campo. “Woow. You are so big” said one of the baby frogs to the Ox.
“Hello, baby frog. Yes I am very big” said the ox proudly.
“Who are you” asked the baby frog.
“I am the Ox, strong and powerful. I pull the carts for my friend, the farmer”
Translate“Woow. Eres tan grande ”le dijo una de las ranitas al Buey.
“Hola, rana bebé. Sí, soy muy grande ”, dijo orgulloso el buey.
“¿Quién eres tú?” Preguntó la rana bebé.
“Soy el Buey, fuerte y poderoso. Tiro de los carros para mi amigo, el granjero “
“Wow. That huge cart over there”, said the baby frog amazed.
“Yes. I can pull it easily even if 10 men sat in it” said the ox proudly.
“There is no bigger animal than the Ox” said one of the baby frogs.
“Indeed”, said all the baby frogs together.
“You are right!” said the Ox.
Translate“Guau. Ese carro enorme de ahí ”, dijo asombrada la cría de rana.
“Sí. Puedo jalarlo fácilmente incluso si 10 hombres se sientan en él ”, dijo el buey con orgullo.
“No hay animal más grande que el Buey” dijo una de las ranas bebé.
“De hecho”, dijeron todas las ranas bebé juntas.
“¡Tienes razón!” dijo el Buey.
In the evening when all the frogs came back home, the baby frogs were very excited.
“What happened here? Why are you all excited?” asked papa frog.
“We saw an Ox. He is the biggest animal in the entire world” said one of the baby frogs.
TranslatePor la noche, cuando todas las ranas regresaron a casa, las ranas bebé estaban muy emocionadas.
“¿Que pasó aquí? ¿Por qué están todos emocionados? ” preguntó papá rana.
“Vimos un Buey. Es el animal más grande del mundo ”dijo una de las ranas bebé.
“Hmm. Big was he? Is he bigger than me?” said Papa frog loudly.
“Yes. He is so much bigger” said the baby frog.
Papa frog pulled in his breath and puffed himself up.
Translate“Mmm. ¿Grande era él? ¿Es más grande que yo? dijo papá rana en voz alta.
“Sí. Es mucho más grande ”, dijo la rana bebé.
Papá rana contuvo el aliento y se infló.
“Is he still bigger than me?” said Papa frog loudly.
“Yes. He is so much bigger” said the baby frog.
Papa frog pulled in his breath even more and puffed himself up.
Translate“¿Es todavía más grande que yo?” dijo papá rana en voz alta.
“Sí. Es mucho más grande ”, dijo la rana bebé.
Papá rana respiró aún más y se infló.
“Is he still bigger than me?” said Papa frog loudly.
“Yes. He is so much bigger” said the baby frog.
Papa frog pulled in his breath even more with great difficulty. He puffed himself up to his biggest size.
Translate“¿Es todavía más grande que yo?” dijo papá rana en voz alta.
“Sí. Es mucho más grande ”, dijo la rana bebé.
Papá rana respiró aún más con gran dificultad. Se infló a sí mismo hasta su mayor tamaño.
“Is he still bigger than me?” said Papa frog loudly.
“Yes. He is so much bigger” said the baby frog.
Papa frog pulled in his breath one last time. He puffed himself up so much that he exploded.
Translate“¿Es todavía más grande que yo?” dijo papá rana en voz alta.
“Sí. Es mucho más grande ”, dijo la rana bebé.
Papá rana respiró hondo por última vez. Se hinchó tanto que explotó.
The moral of the story:
Do not attempt the impossible.
