Aesop’s Fables – De kat en de oude rat
Once upon a time, there was a cat which lived in a large house. The cat was very smart and fast. The cat was very watchful and quick. Any mouse that lived in the house was terrified of the cat. They could never come out when the cat was awake. Even when the cat was asleep, the mice had to be very careful.

Now the mice realized that the cat was very cunning. They became extra careful and the cat could not catch the mice. The cat became very hungry and thought of another cunning plan.
The cat rolled on the flour and soon it was completely covered in white flour. The cat lay down in the flour bin and waited.
TranslateNu realiseerden de muizen zich dat de kat erg sluw was. Ze werden extra voorzichtig en de kat kon de muizen niet vangen. De kat werd erg hongerig en bedacht een ander sluw plan.
De kat rolde op het meel en al snel was het helemaal bedekt met witte bloem. De kat ging in de meelbak liggen en wachtte.
The mice were cautious and wondered why there was so much flour on the table. Mice loved flour and it made an excellent meal. The cat waited patiently and did not move.
One of the young mice said, “Look, the cat has left the house. There is also a big ball of flour on the table for us to eat.”
TranslateDe muizen waren voorzichtig en vroegen zich af waarom er zoveel meel op tafel lag. Muizen waren dol op meel en het was een uitstekende maaltijd. De kat wachtte geduldig en bewoog niet.

An old rat came up and said, “Be very careful. It looks like a fine meal, but it also looks very much like the cat. We should stay away from the flour. We should not be tricked again!”
