Érase una vez, el hijo de Birbal estaba haciendo un berrinche en casa. Birbal era un buen padre y se quedó en casa calmando a su hijo. Debido a esto, Birbal llegó tarde a la Corte.
Akbar was very displeased. Akbar valued punctuality a lot. Akbar said, “You know that I do not like it when you come late. Why are you late to court today?”
Translate Akbar estaba muy disgustado. El rey Akbar valoraba mucho la puntualidad. Akbar dijo: “Saben que no me gusta cuando llegan tarde. ¿Por qué llegas tarde a la Corte hoy?”.
Birbal said, “My King, my child was crying a lot and throwing a tantrum. I wanted to calm my baby down before I came to work.”
Translate Birbal dijo: “Mi Rey, mi hijo lloraba mucho y hacía una rabieta. Quería calmar a mi bebé antes de venir a trabajar.”.
Akbar said, “How long did it take to calm your child? Do not tell me it took all morning!” Birbal said, “Indeed it took all morning, my King.”
Translate Akbar dijo: “¿Cuánto tiempo tomó calmar a tu hijo? ¡No me digas que tomó toda la mañana!”. Birbal dijo: “Efectivamente tomó toda la mañana, mi Rey.”.
Akbar said, “I am disappointed in you. I think you know nothing about child rearing.”
Translate Akbar dijo: “Estoy decepcionado de ti. Creo que no sabes nada sobre la crianza de los hijos.”.
Birbal said, “My King. Let us play a game. I shall pretend to be a child and you can pretend to be my father. I will show you what a child’s tantrum is.”
Translate Birbal dijo: “Mi Rey. Juguemos un juego. Fingiré ser un niño y usted puede fingir que es mi padre. Le mostraré lo que es la rabieta de un niño.”.
Akbar said, “Go on. Pretend to be a child and I shall act as your father! I will show you how you should have dealt with your child. Ask me for whatever he asked of you.”
Translate Akbar dijo: “Adelante. ¡Finge ser un niño y actuaré como tu padre! Te mostraré cómo debiste haber actuado con tu hijo. Pídeme lo que sea que te haya pedido.”.
Birbal said, “I want a cow! I want a cow now!” Saying so, Birbal started to scream and cry loudly.
Translate Birbal dijo: “¡Quiero una vaca! ¡Quiero una vaca ahora!”. Dicho esto, Birbal comenzó a gritar y llorar en voz alta.
Akbar ordered a cow to be brought into the palace immediately.
Translate Akbar ordenó que trajeran una vaca al palacio de inmediato.
“What will I do with a cow? I want its milk. I want its milk,” said Birbal, crying like a small child and cried even more loudly.
Translate “¿Qué haré con una vaca? Quiero su leche. Quiero su leche.”, dijo Birbal llorando como un niño pequeño y gritó aún más fuerte.
Akbar ordered the servant, “Milk the cow and give to him”
Translate Akbar ordenó al sirviente: “Ordeña la vaca y dásela.”.
The cow was milked and the milk was offered to Birbal. Birbal calmed down and drank a sip of milk. He gave the bowl back to Akbar.
Translate La vaca fue ordeñada y ofrecieron la leche a Birbal. Birbal se calmó y bebió un sorbo de leche. Le devolvió el cuenco a Akbar.
“I don’t want this milk any more. Put the rest of it back into the cow! Put it back! Put in back! Put it back!” cried Birbal loudly.
Translate “Ya no quiero esta leche. ¡Devuélvela a la vaca! ¡Devuélvela! ¡Devuélvela! ¡Devuélvela!”, gritó Birbal en voz alta.
The King was flabbergasted and said, “Ok Birbal. You win.”
Translate El Rey quedó atónito y dijo: “De acuerdo, Birbal. Tú ganas.”.
