Aesop’s Fables – El Cuervo y el cántaro
Once upon a time, it was summer and the land was very dry. A crow was very thirsty and flew around searching for water. Soon it found a small pitcher containing very little water.
The crow said, “CAW CAW. Look, a pitcher of water. I can finally have a drink”.
TranslateÉrase una vez, en un verano, la tierra estaba muy seca. Un Cuervo tenía mucha sed y voló en busca de agua. Pronto encontró un pequeño cántaro que contenía muy poca agua.
El cuervo dijo: “CAW CAW. Mira, un cántaro con agua. Por fin puedo tomar un trago.”.
He put his head down the pitcher. The crow could not reach the water. He felt more and more thirsty and did not know what to do.
“CAW CAW! The water is still too deep. What should I do?”
TranslateBajó la cabeza hacia el cántaro. El cuervo no podía alcanzar el agua. Cada vez sentía más y más sed, y no sabía qué hacer.
“¡CAW CAW! El agua todavía está demasiado profunda en el cántaro. ¿Qué debería hacer?”
The crow looked around and found a mud patch having number of pebbles. Then he got a brilliant idea.
He flew to the mud patch. FLAP! FLAP!
He picked up one pebble with his beak. He hopped over to the jug.
TranslateEl cuervo miró a su alrededor y encontró un poco de barro con varias piedras pequeñas y redondas. Entonces tuvo una idea brillante.
Voló hacia el barro. ¡FLAP! ¡FLAP!
Cogió una pequeña piedra con el pico. Saltó de regreso hacia el cántaro.
HOP! HOP! HOP! And then he dropped the stone into the pitcher.
The water was still too deep.
He flew to the mud patch. FLAP! FLAP!
He picked up the second pebble with his beak. He hopped over to the jug.
Translate¡HOP! ¡HOP! ¡HOP! Y luego dejó caer la piedrita en el cántaro.
El agua todavía estaba demasiado profunda.
Voló hacia la mancha de barro. ¡FLAP! ¡FLAP!
Cogió una segunda piedrita con el pico. Saltó luego hacia el cántaro.
HOP! HOP! HOP! And then he dropped the second stone into the pitcher.
The water was still too deep.
He did this many times. For each pebble, the water was rising slowly. Finally the water was high enough. The crow could reach the water and have its fill of water.
Translate¡HOP! ¡HOP! ¡HOP! Y luego dejó caer la segunda piedra en el cántaro.
El agua todavía estaba muy abajo.
Hizo esto muchas veces. Por cada piedrita, el agua subía lentamente. Finalmente, el agua estaba lo suficientemente arriba. El cuervo pudo alcanzar el agua y llenarse de ella.
Moral: Little by little does the trick!
