Once upon a time, there lived a family of frogs in a pond. There was papa Frog with fat belly and loud croak. There was mama Frog with her large beautiful eyes. There was brother Frog with his long tongue. There was sister Frog with her long nails.

There also were many baby frogs. Grandpa frog always used to read the newspaper. Grandma frog loved to bake. They were a very happy family of frogs.

Era uma vez uma família de sapos num lago. Havia papai Sapo com barriga gorda e coaxar alto. Lá estava mamãe Sapo com os seus olhos grandes e lindos. Havia o irmão Sapo com a sua língua comprida. Havia a irmã Sapo com as suas unhas compridas.

Também havia muitos sapos bebés. Vovô sapo sempre costumava ler jornal. A vovó sapo adorava assar. Eles eram uma família de sapos muito feliz.

 

One day, a large ox came to the pond to drink water. SPLAAAASH he walked straight into the pond and drank water. Papa frog and brother frog had gone to work in the fields. All the other frogs had gone to the shop to buy cakes. Only the baby frogs saw the Ox for the first time.

“Woow. You are so big” said one of the baby frogs to the Ox.

“Hello, baby frog. Yes I am very big” said the ox proudly.

Um dia, um boi grande veio ao lago para beber água. SPLAAAASH ele entrou direto na lagoa e bebeu água. O papai sapo e o irmão sapo foi trabalhar no campo. Todas as outras rãs foram à loja comprar bolos. Somente os bebés sapos viram o boi pela primeira vez.

 “Uau. Você é tão grande ”, disse uma das rãs bebês ao Boi.

“Olá, bebê sapo. Sim, sou muito grande ”, disse o boi com orgulho.

 

“Who are you” asked the baby frog.

“I am the Ox, strong and powerful. I pull the carts for my friend, the farmer”

“Wow. That huge cart over there”, said the baby frog amazed.

“Yes. I can pull it easily even if 10 men sat in it” said the ox proudly.

Translate

 “Quem é você” perguntou o sapo bebé.

“Eu sou o Boi, forte e poderoso. Eu puxo as carroças para o meu amigo, o fazendeiro ”

“Uau. Aquele carrinho enorme ali ”, disse espantado o bebé sapo.

“Sim. Posso puxá-lo facilmente, mesmo se 10 homens sentarem nele ”disse o boi com orgulho.

 

“There is no bigger animal than the Ox” said one of the baby frogs.

“Indeed”, said all the baby frogs together.

“You are right!” said the Ox.

In the evening when all the frogs came back home, the baby frogs were very excited.

 “Não há animal maior do que o boi”, disse um dos bebés sapos.

“De fato”, disseram todos os sapos bebés juntos.

“Você está certo!” disse o Boi.

À noite, quando todos os sapos voltaram para casa, os bebés sapos estavam muito animados.

 

“What happened here? Why are you all excited?” asked papa frog.

“We saw an Ox. He is the biggest animal in the entire world” said one of the baby frogs.

“Hmm. Big was he? Is he bigger than me?” said Papa frog loudly.

“Yes. He is so much bigger” said the baby frog.

Translate

“O que aconteceu aqui? Por que você está todo animado? ” perguntou papai sapo.

“Vimos um boi. Ele é o maior animal do mundo ”, disse um dos bebés sapos.

“Hmm. Ele era grande? Ele é maior do que eu? ” disse papai sapo em voz alta.

“Sim. Ele é muito maior ”, disse o sapo bebé.

 

Papa frog pulled in his breath and puffed himself up.

“Is he still bigger than me?” said Papa frog loudly.

“Yes. He is so much bigger” said the baby frog.

Papa frog pulled in his breath even more and puffed himself up.

Translate

O papai sapo prendeu a respiração e se inflou.

“Ele ainda é maior do que eu?” disse papai sapo em voz alta.

“Sim. Ele é muito maior ”, disse o sapo bebé.

O papai sapo prendeu a respiração ainda mais e se inchou.

 

“Is he still bigger than me?” said Papa frog loudly.

“Yes. He is so much bigger” said the baby frog.

Translate

“Ele ainda é maior do que eu?” disse papai sapo em voz alta.

“Sim. Ele é muito maior ”, disse o sapo bebé.

 

Papa frog pulled in his breath even more with great difficulty. He puffed himself up to his biggest size.

“Is he still bigger than me?” said Papa frog loudly.

“Yes. He is so much bigger” said the baby frog.

Papa frog pulled in his breath one last time. He puffed himself up so much that he exploded.

Translate

O papai sapo prendeu a respiração ainda mais com grande dificuldade. Ele inchou até o seu maior tamanho.

“Ele ainda é maior do que eu?” disse papai sapo em voz alta.

“Sim. Ele é muito maior ”, disse o sapo bebé.

O papai sapo prendeu a respiração uma última vez. Ele inchou-se tanto que explodiu.

 

The moral of the story:

Do not attempt the impossible.
