Aesop’s Fables – El Zorro y las uvas
Once upon a time, a fox was walking down the forest. He saw a grape vine climbing up a tree. There was a bunch of delicious grapes hanging from the vines. The grapes looked as if it would burst with the tastiest of juice. The mouth of the fox watered on seeing the grapes.
TranslateÉrase una vez un Zorro que caminaba por el bosque. Vio un racimo de uvas trepando de un árbol. Había un montón de uvas deliciosas colgando de las vides. Parecía que las uvas iban a estallar con el jugo más sabroso. La boca del Zorro se hizo agua al ver las uvas.
“Wow. Those grapes look so tasty. I wish I could eat them”, he said to himself.
The fox stood directly underneath the grapes. He stared up at the grapes.
Translate“Vaya. Esas uvas se ven tan sabrosas. Ojalá pudiera comerlas.”, se dijo.
El Zorro se paró directamente debajo de las uvas. Las contempló.
“My oh my. The grapes are at such a great height. I must jump in order to catch them.”
The fox took one deep breath and jumped up as high as he could. Sadly, the grapes were too high up and he could not reach them.
Translate“Dios mío. Las uvas están a una gran altura. Debo saltar para atraparlas.”
El Zorro respiró hondo y saltó lo más alto que pudo. Lamentablemente, las uvas estaban demasiado arriba y no pudo alcanzarlas.
“Maybe if I run and jump, I can reach them”, he wondered.
He went back a few steps and then ran as fast as he could and jumped. Sadly, the grapes were too high up and he could not reach them.
Translate“Quizás si corro y salto, puedo alcanzarlas.”, se preguntó.
Retrocedió unos pasos y luego corrió lo más rápido que pudo y saltó. Lamentablemente, las uvas estaban demasiado arriba y no pudo alcanzarlas.
“Maybe if I run more and jump, I can reach them”, he wondered.
He went back a good distance. He ran as fast as he could and jumped. The grapes were still too high up and he could not reach them.
Translate“Quizás si corro más y salto, pueda alcanzarlas.”, se preguntó.
Retrocedió una buena distancia. Corrió lo más rápido que pudo y saltó. Las uvas aún estaban demasiado arriba y no pudo alcanzarlas.
Again and again he tried and still could not reach them. He finally gave up and sat down under the grapes. He looked at the grapes with disgust.
TranslateUna y otra vez lo intentó y todavía no podía alcanzarlas. Finalmente se rindió y se sentó bajo las uvas. Las miró con disgusto.
“What a fool I am. Why am I wasting so much time? These grapes look sour and probably taste very bad.”
Translate“Que tonto soy. ¿Por qué pierdo tanto tiempo? Estas uvas se ven amargas y probablemente saben muy mal.”
Saying so, the fox walked away.
TranslateDiciendo eso, el Zorro se alejó.
Moral: There are many who pretend to despise and belittle that which is beyond their reach.
