Swedish Dual Language short stories – Learning Swedish through English

Once upon a time, there was a man who lived in a tiny village.

The man used to say, “I am an astrologer. I can read anyone’s fortune in the stars.”

Translate

Det var en gång en man som bodde i en liten by.

Mannen brukade säga, ”Jag är en astrolog. Jag kan läsa någons framtid i stjärnorna. ”

 

He used to stare at the night sky and always thought, “This is what this means…. Ah.. So that is what this means…”

One day, he was walking to the forest when he saw the stars above.

Translate

Han brukade stirra på natthimlen och tänkte alltid, “Det här är vad det här betyder … Ah … Så det där  är vad detta betyder …”

En dag gick han till skogen när han såg stjärnorna ovanför.

 

He thought, “Ah the stars look very different today. It must mean only one thing. The world is going to end. I must warn everyone.”

Translate

Han tänkte, ”Ah stjärnorna ser väldigt annorlunda ut idag. Det måste bara betyda en sak. Världen kommer att ta slut. Jag måste varna alla. ”

 

He stared at the sky and kept walking. He was so engrossed that he did not see a large well in front of him. He fell into the well.

Translate

Han stirrade på himlen och fortsatte att gå. Han var så uppslukad att han inte såg en stor brunn framför sig. Han föll i brunnen.

 

The man could not swim and started to scream. The villagers came and saved him.

One man said, “You pretend to read the stars. However, you did not see what was right in front of you. You should pay attention to what is in front of you. The future will take care of itself.”

Translate

Mannen kunde inte simma och började skrika. Byborna kom och räddade honom.

En man sa, ”Du låtsas läsa stjärnorna. Men du såg inte vad som låg precis framför dig. Du bör vara uppmärksam på vad som ligger framför dig. Framtiden kommer att ta hand om sig själv. ”

 

Moral: “Take care of the little things and the big things will take care of themselves.”

Translate

“Ta hand om de små sakerna och de stora sakerna kommer att ta hand om sig själva.”
