Hi Everyone,
Today, let us go through one of the most fundamental and MOST IMPORTANT word lists in German for every beginner to start with, the list of all numbers in German. This is also a critical part of the German A1 vocabulary list and hence needs to be memorized 🙂
How it works….
- Numbers from 0 – 12 needs to be memorized since they are unique
- 13-19 follow the below rule
- 13 = three+ten = dreizehn
- 14 = four+ten = vierzehn
- 15 = five+ten = fünfzehn
- 19 = nine+ten = neunzehn
- 20 needs to be memorized since it is unique
- 21 = one and twenty = einundzwanzig
- 22 = two and twenty = zweiundzwanzig
- 23 = three and twenty = dreiundzwanzig
- and so on…
- 30,40,50,60,70,80,90 are “number+zig”
- 30 = dreißig
- 40 = vierzig
- 50 = fünfzig
- 31,32,33…99 all follow the same rule as rule 3
- 100 = einhundert
- 100 – 110 follow 100+number
- 101 = hundert eins
- 102 = hundert zwei
- 110 above upto 999 follow a simple rule
- 130 =one hundred + 30 = einhundertdreißig
- 145 =one hundred + 45 = einhundertfünfundvierzig
- For 1000, same rule as above except prefix with 1000
- one thousand two hundred forty five = eintausendzweihundertfünfundvierzig
