The Ass and The Grasshoppers

Once upon a time, there was an Ass which lived in a big farm. Next to the farm, there was a pond and a forest. There were a lot of grasshoppers living in the farm.

The grasshopper is a very merry creature. They love summer. They chirp throughout the summer making lovely songs.

The Ass thought, “They have such melodious voices. I too wish to sing like them.”

He decided that he would go and ask the grasshoppers their secret.

The Ass said to the grasshoppers, “BRAAAY! BRAAAY! Dear Grasshoppers. Would you sing a song for me, you have such a melodious voice”

The Grasshoppers were always happy to sing. They sang a very beautiful song for the Ass.

CHIRP! CHIRP!

CHIRP! CHIRP! CHIRP! CHIRP!

CHIRP! CHIRP! CHIRP!

CHIRP! CHIRP! CHIRP! CHIRP! CHIRP!

CHIRP! CHIRP! CHIRP!

CHIRP! CHIRP! CHIRP! CHIRP!

CHIRP! CHIRP!

The Ass said, “BRAAAY! BRAAAY! That was so beautiful. Can you tell me how to sing? I too wish to have a melodious voice.”

The Grasshoppers were very mischievous. They decided to trick the Ass.

They said to the Ass, “CHIRP! CHIRP! Can you see the dew on top of the grass? We drink only the dew. We do not eat the grass. The grass makes your voice sound harsh.”

The Ass said, “Thank you so much for telling me.”

For the next two days, the Ass licked the grass and did not eat. He was very tired and he fainted. When the Ass woke up, he had learned his lesson.
